Reichenard's Masked Weaver is a small, bright yellow weaver with a black mask in breeding males. It is a relatively widespread species of dry savannas and woodlands.
Where to spot
Found in East and Southern Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia. Inhabits dry savannas, open woodlands, and cultivated areas.

When to spot
Year-round resident. Breeding activity is most prominent during the rainy season, when males are brightly colored and active.
This species is named after Paul Reichenard, a German ornithologist. Its nests are typically spherical with a short entrance tunnel, woven from grass and fibers.
