Where to spot
Native to the Comoro Islands (Grande Comore, Mohéli, Anjouan) and Mayotte, inhabiting forests, cultivated areas, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for the brilliant red males in forested areas or near human habitation. They are often seen in small groups or foraging in trees and bushes.
When to spot
Present year-round. Males are most vibrant during the breeding season, which typically occurs during the wet months.
