Spotted
The Kenyan Weaver is a small, rather drab weaver, primarily brown and streaky, which can make it challenging to identify. It is an inhabitant of dry, thorny scrubland.
Where to spot
Endemic to a small area of southeastern Kenya and southwestern Somalia. Inhabits arid and semi-arid thornbush and scrubland.
How to spot
Look for its small size and streaky brown plumage. It is often found low in bushes or on the ground. Listen for its quiet, unassuming calls, which may aid in location.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day when birds are most active. Can be difficult to find due to its elusive nature.
This species has a restricted distribution, being found only in a specific region of Kenya, making it a target for birdwatchers interested in regional endemics.
