Where to spot
Endemic to Jamaica, found across various habitats from moist forests to gardens and urban parks, particularly at lower to middle elevations.
How to spot
The male's exceptionally long, black streaming tail feathers and red bill are unmistakable. Females lack the streamers but share the red bill. Listen for the unique 'whirring' sound made by the male's tail.
When to spot
Observable year-round throughout the day. Frequently visits hummingbird feeders and flowering plants, making early mornings and late afternoons ideal.
