The Golden-breasted Puffleg is a striking hummingbird known for its shimmering golden-green breast and prominent white leg puffs. It is typically found in the high-altitude cloud forests of the Andes.
Where to spot
Inhabits humid montane cloud forests and forest edges in the Andes of Colombia and northern Ecuador.
How to spot
Look for its unique golden-green breast. Its relatively large size for a puffleg and noticeable white leg puffs are also good indicators for identification.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, but particularly visible when visiting feeders or flowering shrubs in the morning.
