Spotted
Rand's Warbler is a small, plain, insectivorous bird endemic to Madagascar. It is named for ornithologist Austin L. Rand and is often found in the mid-story of humid forests.
Where to spot
Humid evergreen forests, particularly in eastern Madagascar, foraging in the mid-story and sub-canopy.
How to spot
Look for its general warbler-like appearance and active foraging behavior in the forest mid-levels. Listen for its relatively simple calls. It can be difficult to distinguish without good views.
When to spot
Year-round, resident species. Most active during the morning, often in mixed-species foraging flocks.

The 'pseudozosterops' in its scientific name indicates its resemblance to the Spectacled Tetraka (Xanthomixis zosterops), though it lacks that species' prominent eye-ring.
