Spotted
Appert's Tetraka is a highly localized and endangered bird endemic to a small region of western Madagascar. It is a cryptic species, adapted to its dry forest habitat.
Where to spot
Dry deciduous forest and gallery forest in a very restricted area of western Madagascar, primarily around Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park.
How to spot
Requires specific travel to its limited range. Look for it foraging actively in the lower to mid-canopy. Listen for its calls, which can help in detection within its specialized habitat.
When to spot
Year-round, as it is resident. Early morning is often the best time for observation.
