Spotted
Przevalski's Partridge is a large, robust partridge species inhabiting the remote mountains of Central Asia. It is well-adapted to high-altitude environments.
Where to spot
Typically found on high-altitude rocky slopes, alpine meadows, and scrubland in the Tian Shan and Kunlun Mountains of western China.
How to spot
Scan open, rocky areas with sparse vegetation. They are often shy and difficult to spot, but their loud, characteristic calls can reveal their presence. Be prepared for challenging mountain terrain.
When to spot
Best observed in the breeding season (spring to early summer) when males are more vocal. Early mornings are generally the most productive time.
