How to spot
Listen for its deep, booming call. Requires patience and quiet observation of dense marsh vegetation. Look for its streaky brown plumage as it remains motionless.
When to spot
Year-round. Best observed at dawn or dusk, or when flushed from cover. Its booming call might be heard during the breeding season.
