The Philby's Partridge is a medium-sized gamebird native to the Arabian Peninsula. Known for its striking facial patterns, it prefers rocky, mountainous terrain.
Where to spot
Found on rocky slopes, wadis, and escarpments primarily in the mountainous regions of Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
How to spot
Look for them foraging on the ground among rocks. Listen for their distinctive chuckling or cackling calls, which can help locate hidden coveys. Use binoculars for distant observations.
When to spot
Most active and vocal during the early morning and late afternoon, often heard calling around these times.
