Spotted
The Pallid Plover is a small, very pale plover found in the deserts and semi-deserts of Central Asia. Its light coloration provides excellent camouflage against sandy substrates.
Where to spot
Inland deserts, sandy plains, and saline or brackish lake shores across Central Asia, including parts of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia.
How to spot
Requires visiting specific arid interior regions. Its extremely pale plumage makes it blend in very well with sandy or stony ground. Look for subtle movements in open, flat areas.
When to spot
Typically observed during the breeding season (spring/summer) in its Central Asian range. May move to more temperate areas during winter. Active during daylight.
