Endemic to Sulawesi and several smaller adjacent islands in Indonesia, found in lowland forests, forest edges, and secondary growth.
How to spot
Search the mid-story and undergrowth of forested areas. Look for its distinctive blue coloration and active, acrobatic foraging style. Listen for its high-pitched, often repetitive calls.

Year-round resident. Observation is generally good throughout the year, with peak activity during early morning and late afternoon.
