The Orange-breasted Falcon is a powerful, medium-sized falcon inhabiting the Neotropical rainforests, renowned for its incredible speed and preference for hunting large, fast-flying birds.
Where to spot
Tropical lowland rainforests, often near cliffs or tall trees overlooking open areas, from southern Mexico through Central America and northern South America.
How to spot
Look for its robust build, black upperparts, white throat, and distinctive orange breast and belly. Its flight is incredibly fast and direct. Often perches high on exposed snags or cliff ledges.
When to spot
Active during the day, frequently observed during morning hours. Observable year-round.
