How to spot
Look for its relatively small size, dark grey upperparts, and rufous-red lower belly/thighs. Its flight is fast and dashing, often seen pursuing insects or small birds. It has a distinct dark malar stripe.
When to spot
Active during the day, particularly around dawn and dusk when prey is abundant. Observable year-round.
