The Olive-flanked Robin is a small, inconspicuous flyrobin found in the tropical forests of New Guinea. Its olive-green plumage helps it blend seamlessly into the dense canopy.
Where to spot
Found in New Guinea and some nearby islands, inhabiting lowland and hill rainforests, often in the understory or mid-canopy.
How to spot
Look in dense forest undergrowth and mid-story. Its camouflage makes it difficult to see, so listen for its soft calls or watch for subtle movements as it forages.
When to spot
Resident throughout the year in its habitat. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, early morning and late afternoon.
This species is often found foraging alone or in pairs, quietly gleaning insects from foliage, making it a challenging but rewarding bird to observe.
