Spotted
The Ochre-naped Ground-Tyrant is a medium-sized ground-tyrant of the southern Andes, characterized by a subtle ochre patch on its nape. Its plumage is otherwise mainly grey and white.
Where to spot
High-altitude grasslands, rocky areas, and open puna in the southern Andes (Chile and Argentina). Migrates to lower altitudes in Bolivia and Peru during winter.
How to spot
Look for the subtle ochre wash on the nape. It forages on the ground, often perching on rocks. Pay attention to its overall size and proportions to distinguish it from similar ground-tyrants.
