The Ochre-bellied Pewee is a medium-sized flycatcher characterized by its warm ochre-colored belly. It is an inhabitant of montane forests in Central America.
Where to spot
Found in montane evergreen forests and cloud forests in Mexico and Central America, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
How to spot
Look for its ochre belly and relatively large head in the mid to upper canopy. Listen for its distinctive, often melancholy calls.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, especially in the mornings and late afternoons. It is a resident species, observable year-round.
