Hume's Pheasant is a strikingly patterned pheasant found in the hills and mountains of Southeast Asia, featuring the male's metallic blue-green and chestnut plumage with a long, white-barred tail.

Where to spot

Found in dense forests, scrub, and bamboo groves on steep hills and mountains across northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, and southwestern China.

How to spot

Look for them foraging on the ground in forest clearings, along trails, or at forest edges. While shy, they can sometimes be approached with caution. Listen for their distinctive calls to aid in location.

When to spot

Year-round, with better chances of observation during early morning or late afternoon. The spring breeding season can be particularly rewarding for spotting displaying males.
