Allen's Antpitta is a distinctive, medium-sized antpitta with a rather plain olive-brown plumage and a subtle pale eye-ring. It is highly restricted in its distribution.
Where to spot
Endemic to a very restricted area of humid foothill and lower montane forests on the western slopes of the Andes in Colombia.
How to spot
Requires visiting specific protected areas within its tiny range. Listen intently for its quiet calls. It is extremely skulking and difficult to see without specialized efforts.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the early morning.
