Where to spot
Widespread across Central Asia, from Turkey eastward through Mongolia and China. It prefers rocky and barren landscapes, semi-deserts, and arid mountain slopes.
How to spot
Look for them in open, rocky areas with sparse vegetation. They can be found foraging on the ground. Listen for their distinctive, often musical calls.
When to spot
Visible year-round throughout its range, often forming flocks in winter. Breeding activity is in spring and summer.
