Spotted
A small, distinctive warbler with finely barred underparts, streaky brown upperparts, and a relatively long tail. It often cocks its tail like a wren.
Where to spot
Dry woodlands, acacia savanna, and dense scrub across East and Central Africa.
How to spot
Look for the subtle barring on its belly and its habit of cocking its tail. It's often found in the mid-strata of dense bushes. Listen for its distinctive, often buzzing or churring song.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the mornings. Breeding often coincides with the local rainy season.

The fine barring on the underparts provides excellent camouflage among the shadows and dappled light of its preferred bushy habitats.
