Spotted
The Rufous-tailed Rufous-Warbler is an African forest species, characterized by its rufous-brown tail and underparts, with a paler throat.
Where to spot
Found in West and Central Africa. It inhabits dense undergrowth of lowland and montane rainforests.
How to spot
Look for its rufous tail as it scurries through dense low vegetation. Its calls are distinctive and often the most reliable way to locate it in thick cover.
When to spot
A year-round resident. It is most active during the early mornings, which provides the best chance for observation.
It is one of the more widespread species within the Rufous-Warbler group, though still a specialist of dense forest undergrowth and challenging to see.
