The Manu Parrotlet is an elusive and very small parrotlet, discovered relatively recently, known for its bright green plumage and compact size. It is endemic to specific regions of the western Amazon basin.
Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests, particularly near bamboo thickets and forest edges, in southeastern Peru and adjacent parts of Bolivia.
How to spot
Listen for its very high-pitched, almost insect-like calls, which are easily missed. Scan the canopy and bamboo stands meticulously. Often seen in small, quiet groups.

Most active at dawn and dusk. Due to its elusive nature, any time of day offering a clear view is fortunate. This species is a resident.
