The White-tailed Monarch is an attractive flycatcher endemic to the Moluccas islands of Indonesia. It is characterized by its glossy black plumage with a contrasting white tail.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Moluccas (especially Halmahera, Morotai, Bacan) in Indonesia, found in lowland and hill forests.
How to spot
Look for its glossy black body and prominent white tail, often fanned during flight or display. Scan the mid-story and canopy of forests. Listen for its distinctive, often harsh calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the day, particularly in the mornings and late afternoons.
