A small, neatly patterned flycatcher with distinct black and white plumage (male). It is an active bird of forest undergrowth.
Where to spot
Forest and woodland undergrowth across the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, and parts of Indonesia and the Philippines.
How to spot
Look for its distinctive pied plumage and active foraging behavior in the lower and mid-canopy. Listen for its sharp calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the day, particularly mornings.
