Dense undergrowth of tropical moist montane forests on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines.

Extremely difficult to observe due to its small size, dense habitat, and skulking behavior. Focus on listening for its high-pitched, sibilant calls or short bursts of song emanating from thickets.

Year-round resident. Best observed in the early mornings. Breeding season details are scarce but likely during the wet season.
