Legge's Hawk-Eagle is a medium-sized eagle found in Sri Lanka and parts of southwestern India, closely related to the Changeable Hawk-Eagle but recognized as a distinct species. It inhabits forests and wooded areas.

Forests, woodlands, and well-wooded areas in Sri Lanka and the Western Ghats of India.
How to spot
Look for its dark brown upperparts, white underparts with dark streaks, and a small crest (often not prominent). Its calls, typically a series of loud whistles, are a good way to locate it in its forest habitat.
When to spot
Year-round, active during daylight. Often seen soaring over forested hills or perched conspicuously on an emergent tree.
