Spotted
A strikingly beautiful wild fowl native to the islands of Indonesia. Males boast iridescent green and purple plumage with a unique multi-colored comb, making them visually distinct from other junglefowl.
Where to spot
Found in forests, coastal scrub, and cultivated areas on the islands of Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, and other Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia.
How to spot
Look for them foraging on the ground, often near the edge of forests or clearings. Listen for their distinctive crowing, which is higher pitched and more melodic than that of Red Junglefowl.
When to spot
Early morning and late afternoon are the best times when they forage and are most vocal, though they can be active throughout the day in undisturbed habitats.

The Green Junglefowl can hybridize with domestic chickens, producing offspring known as 'Bekisar,' which are particularly prized in Indonesia for their unique, melodious crowing vocalizations.
