The Green Jay is a vibrantly colored jay species found from southern North America through Central America to northern South America. It is characterized by its striking green, blue, and black plumage, with a yellow bill. These social birds inhabit a variety of open woodlands and scrub habitats.

Widespread from southern Texas (USA) through Mexico and Central America to northern South America (Colombia and Venezuela). It inhabits open woodlands, scrub, thorn forest, riparian zones, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for its unmistakable combination of green body, blue head, black throat, and yellow bill. They are often found in noisy groups, so listen for their harsh, scolding calls and varied vocalizations.
When to spot
Resident throughout its range, observable year-round. Most active during the day, often conspicuous due to their noisy group movements.
