Where to spot
Breeds in arid, rocky areas of central Asia, Middle East, and parts of the Himalayas; winters in India and northeast Africa.
How to spot
Look for them on stony slopes with sparse vegetation. Their subtle grey and buff plumage provides good camouflage. Listen for their simple, short, and rather quiet song.

This bunting is a migratory species, moving long distances between its breeding grounds in central Asia and wintering areas further south in India and northeast Africa, undertaking impressive journeys.
