Spotted
The Galah is one of Australia's most common and widespread cockatoos, instantly recognizable by its striking pink and grey plumage and often seen in large, noisy flocks.
Where to spot
Open woodlands, grasslands, agricultural areas, urban parks, and even cities across most of mainland Australia and Tasmania.
How to spot
Look for its bright pink head and underparts, contrasting with grey wings and back. Listen for its loud, high-pitched 'chee-chee' or 'galah!' call. Easily spotted due to their abundance and distinctive coloration.
When to spot
Active during the day, often seen foraging on the ground or flying in large flocks, especially in mornings and late afternoons. Observable year-round.
