The Canary Islands Stonechat is a distinctive stonechat species, endemic to the Canary Islands. Males are recognized by their black head, white neck patch, and rich orange-brown breast.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Canary Islands (Spain), found across various habitats including scrubland, open woodlands, agricultural areas, and coastal heath.
How to spot
Look for it perching conspicuously on the tops of bushes, wires, or tall grass stems. Its characteristic 'chak-chak' call is a good indicator of its presence. Watch for its energetic flight and tail-flicking.
When to spot
