Montane forests of Vietnam and Laos, particularly in the Annamite Mountains.
How to spot
Focus on listening for its short, repetitive calls from the forest floor. It is highly elusive and requires quiet observation.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal in the early morning.
