Where to spot
Distributed across South America, primarily in the Amazon basin and parts of the Atlantic Forest biome, favoring humid lowland forests.
How to spot
Look for its broad, flat bill and overall olive-green coloring. It often perches quietly for extended periods, making short, direct flights to catch prey. Listen for its distinctive, often buzzy or trilled calls.

Resident year-round. Best observed during early morning and late afternoon hours when they are most active.
