The Chinese White-eye is a very common and widespread species found across East Asia. It is a typical white-eye with green plumage and a prominent eye-ring.
Where to spot
Widespread across much of China, Taiwan, and parts of mainland Southeast Asia. Inhabits various habitats including forests, woodlands, parks, gardens, and cultivated areas.
How to spot
Look for its bright white eye-ring, yellowish throat, and olive-green upperparts. Often found in active flocks, foraging for insects and nectar. Listen for its clear, twittering calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round throughout much of its range. Active during the day. Easily observed throughout the year.
This species is a highly adaptable urban dweller, often seen in parks and gardens even in bustling cities across China.
