Where to spot
Inhabits dense broadleaf evergreen forests and bamboo thickets in hilly and montane regions of the eastern Himalayas (India, Bhutan) and parts of Myanmar, China, and Vietnam.
How to spot
Extremely shy; best located by listening for its distinctive calls, often a series of repeated whistles. Walk quietly along forest trails and scan the undergrowth for any movement or foraging activity.

Most vocal at dawn and dusk, particularly during the breeding season (spring). Can be found year-round.
