Spotted
The Buff-rumped Warbler is a small, active warbler with a brown back, pale underparts, and a distinctive buff or rufous rump patch and tail base, often flicked into view.
Where to spot
Resident from Honduras south through Central America to western Ecuador and northwestern Bolivia.
How to spot
Look along rocky streams and rivers in humid forests. Watch for its constant tail-bobbing and fanning, revealing the buff rump. It often forages on the ground or low vegetation near water.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its resident forest stream habitats. More vocal during the local breeding season.

This species is strongly associated with forest streams and rivers, often foraging along the water's edge and along mossy banks, where it bobs its tail much like a waterthrush.
