Spotted
Bower's Shrikethrush is a shy and elusive bird endemic to the wet tropical rainforests of northeastern Australia. Its drab plumage helps it blend seamlessly into the dense understory.
Where to spot
Confined to the wet tropical rainforests of northeastern Queensland, Australia, primarily in montane areas and high-altitude forests.
How to spot
Due to its secretive nature, it's often easier to hear than see. Listen for its mournful, whistling calls. Look for its dull olive-brown plumage and pale throat, typically foraging low in the undergrowth.
When to spot
Year-round resident. It is most active and vocal in the early mornings and late afternoons, especially during the breeding season.
