Spotted
The Fulvous-chested Jungle Flycatcher is a small, subtle bird with olive-brown upperparts and a warm fulvous (tawny) breast. It is a secretive resident of dense, humid forests.
Where to spot
Found in the Himalayas and mountainous regions of Southeast Asia, from Nepal eastward through Northeast India, Myanmar, Thailand, and into parts of China and Vietnam. Inhabits dense evergreen forests.
How to spot
Look for its small size and warm-toned chest. It tends to stay low in dense vegetation, making it challenging to spot. Listen for its soft, high-pitched calls, which can reveal its presence.
When to spot
A resident species, observable year-round, with some altitudinal movements. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early morning.

Despite its somewhat drab plumage, this species is highly active, constantly foraging for small insects in the tangled undergrowth. It is often part of mixed-species foraging flocks.
