Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests of Central and northern South America (e.g., Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador).
How to spot
Look for small, fast-flying green birds in the canopy. Listen for their high-pitched, reedy calls. Its blue forehead and red wing patch are key features when visible.
When to spot
Year-round, active during daylight hours.
