The Blue-capped Tanager is a beautiful species with a vibrant blue cap and a largely green and yellow body. It is often found in montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in humid montane forests and cloud forests, typically at moderate to high elevations in the Andes.
How to spot
Scan the mid-story and canopy. The bright blue cap is an excellent field mark, making it easy to spot amidst the green foliage.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Early mornings are best for observation, especially when foraging in mixed flocks.
