The Blue-breasted Quail, also known as the King Quail, is a tiny, colorful ground-dwelling bird native to grasslands and open woodlands across Asia and Australasia. It's one of the smallest quail species globally, often admired for its vibrant plumage.

Inhabits grasslands, rice paddies, scrublands, and open forests throughout Southeast Asia, parts of India, China, and Australasia.
How to spot
Listen for their soft, repetitive 'trew-trew' call. Walk quietly through tall grass or dense vegetation; they will often explode into flight right from underfoot.
When to spot
Most active at dawn and dusk, foraging for seeds and insects. Can be seen at any time when flushed from cover.
