The Blue-and-white Swallow is a very common and widespread swallow found throughout much of Central and South America. It is characterized by its glossy blue-black upperparts and pure white underparts.

Open areas, urban environments, agricultural lands, and open woodlands, from southern Mexico south through Central and South America.
How to spot
Look for its clean contrast of glossy blue-black above and pure white below, without any breast band or other markings. Observe its agile, erratic flight as it forages for insects. Often seen in large flocks and perching on wires.

Year-round resident in most of its range, though some southern populations are migratory. Active during daylight hours.
