Where to spot

Look in exposed, rocky areas and sparse vegetation in high-altitude regions. Its bold black and white pattern makes it relatively conspicuous against the alpine backdrop. Listen for its clear calls.

Resident throughout the year. Most active during the day, particularly on sunny mornings.
This robin is one of the few bird species found above the tree line in New Guinea, thriving in harsh alpine environments where snow can persist year-round.
