The Black-lored Yellowthroat is a small, vibrant warbler with bright yellow underparts, olive-green upperparts, and a distinctive black mask that extends over the lores (area between eye and bill).
Where to spot
Endemic to the inter-Andean valleys and slopes of northern Peru.
How to spot
Seek it in dense thickets, scrubby areas, and reedy marshes in valley bottoms and on lower slopes. It often forages low in vegetation.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its restricted resident range in Peru. Most vocal during the local breeding season.
