Look for its olive-brown upperparts, pale underparts with subtle dusky barring on the breast, and a pale eyebrow. It is an active bird, often seen moving quickly through flowering trees. Listen for its high-pitched, reedy calls.
When to spot
Active throughout daylight hours, primarily feeding on nectar and small insects. It is a resident species, observable year-round wherever suitable flowering plants are present.
This species has a brush-tipped tongue, typical of honeyeaters, which allows it to efficiently lap up nectar from flowers.
