Endemic to the island of Borneo, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) and Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). It inhabits lowland primary and secondary evergreen forests, often near limestone outcrops.

Look for its unmistakable bare, yellowish-green head contrasting with its dark body. It typically forages on the ground, often scratching through leaf litter. Listen for its deep, hooting, and gurgling calls.
