Endemic to the island of São Miguel in the Azores archipelago, particularly restricted to the native laurel forest known as 'Priolo habitat'.
How to spot
Visit the protected laurel forest areas on São Miguel, especially where conservation efforts are focused. Look for them feeding on seeds and fruits in the native vegetation. Following local bird guides is highly recommended.
