The Azores Bullfinch is a critically endangered species, endemic to a single island in the Azores. It is a duller, browner bullfinch compared to its European relatives.
Where to spot
Endemic to the island of São Miguel in the Azores archipelago, particularly restricted to the native laurel forest known as 'Priolo habitat'.
How to spot
Visit the protected laurel forest areas on São Miguel, especially where conservation efforts are focused. Look for them feeding on seeds and fruits in the native vegetation. Following local bird guides is highly recommended.

Visible year-round within its highly restricted range. Best observed during the breeding season (spring/summer) when activity is high.
