Arnot's Chat is a striking and elegant species, with males featuring black upperparts, a prominent white crown patch, and white underparts. Females are duller with a mottled crown.
Where to spot
Found across central and southern Africa, inhabiting miombo and mopane woodlands, particularly areas with large trees and bare ground.
How to spot
Look for it perching conspicuously on the branches of large trees in open woodlands. The male's white crown patch and contrasting black and white plumage are unmistakable. Listen for its loud, musical song.
