Where to spot
Common across most of North America, from southern Canada to the southern U.S. and northern Mexico, found in nearly every habitat type including forests, agricultural fields, parks, and urban areas.
How to spot
Look for a medium-large, entirely black bird with a strong, straight bill. Listen for its classic, loud 'caw-caw' calls. They are often seen in groups, foraging on the ground or perching on tall structures.
